Birdy Eyelashes (#166)
You’re all expecting vampire stuff, so this post will disappoint you. It’s a bird fact. I mean, I have to bring ‘em from time to time.
Have you ever thought about eyelashes in birds? I didn’t and most of them actually don’t have any. Which is kind of crazy, because I could imagine they come in handy when you’re flying around all the time.
Anyways, a few birds do have eyelashes, although its not really hair but rather modified feathers. One of them is the blue-fronted Amazon Parrot, which is often held as a pet and is known for his colorful feathers and big vocabulary. Unfortunately it’s an endangered animal in South America.
Another eyelashed beauty is the ostrich. This is the big running bird, which is unable to fly. And it has a lot of eyelashes. Although looking at the picture, it looks like the ostrich also has cheecklashes, chinlashes, and a monobrow.
